
Marjan Grdadolnik completed his clarinet studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Professor Alojz Zupan and Professor Jože Kotar, and later enrolled in the conducting program. In January 2009, he graduated with distinction in conducting from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where he conducted the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra at his diploma concert in the class of Professor Milivoj Šurbek. For his achievements in conducting, he received the Academy of Music Student Prešeren Award while still a student.
He teaches clarinet and chamber music at the Logatec Music School. For his outstanding achievements in music education, he received the Gerbič Recognition from the Association of Slovenian Music Schools.
He is the founder and artistic director of the Cantabile Symphony Orchestra, with which he carries out numerous artistic projects and brings together young musicians and experienced performers. He is also the founder and artistic director of the Adoramus Mixed Choir, with which he has achieved notable success both at home and abroad. In 2000, he received the Best Conductor award at a choral competition in Prague, presented to him by the composer Petr Eben.
He works as an organist and leads musical activities in his home parish of St. Nicholas in Logatec. For many years, he has also served as the artistic leader of the musical program at the summer choral and spiritual gatherings in Soča, intended for choir conductors, organists, and singers of church choirs.
As a mature musician, he is devoted not only to interpretation but also to composition. His musical works have always been warmly received by audiences. Particularly notable is Laudate Dominum for choir and string orchestra, which is frequently performed by various choirs in Slovenia and abroad. In 2016, in collaboration with other artists, he successfully conducted the world premiere of The Colours of the Green Emerald by composer Avgust Ipavec with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra.
He has appeared as a guest artist in Rome, Bucharest, Prague, Barcelona, Vienna, Zurich, and elsewhere. He has collaborated with numerous distinguished ensembles, including the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Armed Forces Orchestra, the Swiss Giovane Orchestra, the European Medical Students’ Orchestra (EMSO), the European Doctors Orchestra (EDO), and the Budapest Philharmonic.
